Record Breaking Numbers Attend Local Easter Event!

On Wednesday 8th April over 250 children and their parents attended the 4th annual Easter Event hosted by the Friends of Mareham Pastures.

The children had to follow an Easter Trail around the Local Nature Reserve and collect clues. When the clues had been collected and they had worked out the answer, they returned back to the finishing point and collected their Easter surprise. Every child that attended received a Cadbury’s Crème Egg or a chocolate chick or bunny as a prize. An Easter Egg tombola was also held, raising over £50 for future events for children at Mareham Pastures.

Cllr George Grout, Mayor of Sleaford and Mayoress Alice Grout said: 'We are very happy to be here, around 260 - 270 children attended and we are grateful for the glorious weather!'

Matthew Davey, Lincolnshire County Council's Conservation Officer said: ‘I would like to mention the three different groups of young volunteers who came along to help with this very successful event today: Cadets from Sleaford Detachment Army Cadet Force, ‘V’ team volunteers from Lincoln and our very own journalist and photographer for the day; Colette Brooks and Georgie Kelly from Sleaford Foyer. All these young people have done a fine job and set a wonderful example to other young people out there.'

Zoë Watson, event organiser added: 'All the children appeared to have really enjoyed themselves. If it wasn't for the generosity of local people this event would not have been possible; so a big thank you goes out to the young people who donated their time today; Aldi, Boyes, Lincolnshire Cooperative Society and Tesco who between them donated all the goodies for today’s event and finally Sleaford Town Council who very kindly sponsored the leaflets that went out to all the local schools and playgroups'.
