Conservation Volunteer Day

Plant New Woodland this New Year!

How well have you kept to your new year’s resolutions?

If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to get more involved in your local community; become more environmentally friendly, or to have a go at volunteering, this could be the solution for you:

Come and plant a tree!

On Sunday 11th January a conservation project day will be taking place at Mareham Pastures Local Nature Reserve.

Following on from the traditional hedge laying work that has been carried out in October and November; more trees still need to be planted at Mareham Pastures Local Nature Reserve.  Every one is invited to come along and join in.  It doesn't matter if you only have time to plant one tree or want to plant one hundred!

Volunteers will be meeting at 10am at the Lavender Close entrance and the activity should end around 3pm, weather permitting.  If you can't make a 10am start, but would like to join in, just take a leisurely stroll around Mareham Pastures until you find the Friends Group and the other conservation volunteers.  Then come over and join in.

Matthew Davey, Lincolnshire County Council’s Environmental and Community Project Officer said:  ‘the idea of the Mareham Pastures Conservation Volunteer Programme is to encourage local residents to help maintain and improve their Local Nature Reserve.’

Each project will be lead by Matthew Davey, Lincolnshire County Council’s Environmental and Community Project Officer.  Full training, safety briefing, first aid, insurance cover, tea or coffee and biscuits will be provided.  All we ask is that volunteers wear suitable outdoor clothes and stout shoes and bring a packed lunch.  More information is available on our website:  www.marehampastures.co.uk
