Specimen Trees Sponsored
On Sunday 11th February the fifth of six conservation project days took place at Mareham Pastures Local Nature Reserve. Volunteers planted 11 specimen trees sponsored by local people and groups.
The specimen species included London Plane, White Poplar, Red Oak, False Acacia, Sugar Maple and Ginko Biloba. Zoë Watson, Secretary of the Friends of Mareham said: ‘Some of these trees have been planted by families or groups to commemorate people; other trees have been planted by people and groups who support the work that is being done at Mareham Pastures’.
Matthew Davey, Lincolnshire County Council’s Environmental and Community Project Officer added: ‘The response to tree sponsorship has been so good that we have had to start a waiting list for more sponsors whose trees will be planted next winter.’
