Local MP at Local Nature Reserve
|
| Douglas Hogg MP with Friends and Supporters of Mareham Pastures |
On Friday 2nd December 2005 The Friends of Mareham
Pastures welcomed Douglas Hogg to the Local Nature Reserve.
The Sleaford and North Hykeham MP was given a guided tour of
the site by Members of the Friends group. Mr Hogg said: ‘I
was very impressed by what has been done to reclaim a
landfill site. It provides a welcome open space for the
residents of Sleaford. It is a place where people can relax
and enjoy the countryside and it will also encourage the
development of wild life.’
Zoë Watson, Secretary of the Friends of Mareham Pastures
said: ‘It was a pleasure to show Douglas Hogg the work
that has been carried out by the local community at Mareham
Pastures and I believe he was rather impressed with what he
saw.’
During his visit Mr Hogg was introduced to members of the
Friends group, including Rob McCrea who at age 16 years is
the youngest member of the group. Rob, a sixth form student
at Carres Grammar School has been involved as a volunteer at
Mareham Pastures since February last year when he planted
trees as part of a Community Project carried out by Sleaford
Army Cadets.
