Army Cadets Clean Up Again |
On Saturday 30th April, Cadets from the Sleaford
Detachment, Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force undertook their
second litter clearance at Mareham Pastures Local Nature
Reserve. This year the group was lead by Lance Corporal
Robbie McCrea (age 16) who is also the youngest member of
the Friends of Mareham Pastures group which is responsible
for managing the Local Nature Reserve.
Matthew Davey, Local Nature Reserves Officer, Lincolnshire
County Council said: "The Cadets have again done an
excellent job, the site really benefits from a thorough
spring clean and I hope they will do the same again next
year" ... "the items found this time included a dozen
car batteries and an assortment of tyres and wheels".
Zoë Watson, Secretary of the Friends Group said: "Mareham
Pastures looks even better now that the litter has been
cleared and the huge improvements that have taken place on
this site are entirely due to the effort of local volunteers
who take pride in their local environment".
