DIGGING IN: Army Cadets of the Ruskington and
Sleaford detachment of the Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force put
their backs into a scheme to transform the former Mareham
Lane landfill site into a nature reserve. The cadets planted
hawthorn trees as one of the first stages in a five-year
plan to develop the site.
The scheme is being backed by Lincolnshire County Council,
the Friends of Mareham Pastures Group and the local
community and will turn the former tip into a local nature
reserve and community park.
The project is being spearheaded by Lincolnshire County
Council and the trees were donated by its landscape
conservation scheme.
